T-REX is collaborating with the DIN, the official German body for standardization

Fraunhofer IAO (Institut für Arbeitswirtschaft und Organisation) is collaborating with the Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN), the official German body for standardization. IAO has joined to their working group “Green Services - oekologisch nachhaltige Dienstleistungen” with the aim to develop a reference model for environmentally sustainable services in the form of a separate DIN SPEC (an Spezifikation is a pre-standard).

Currently, a change takes place in the entrepreneurial mindset. The focus is less on the product / service as to the benefits that can be achieved by the product or the service. For the purposes of sustainability partial decoupling of the value of the resource consumption takes place. However, markets do not automatically steers toward sustainability - they needs incentives and barriers.

Standardization is able to contribute to the success of this modified service approach. For this purpose a orienting themselves to practice reference model will be developed that describes the development of an ecological and sustainable service in detail. The reference model is to be designed so that it can be adapted to a variety of situations and various types of services. By applying this "development model" application and implementation opportunities for environmentally sustainable services in the market are significantly improved. The work results are to be recorded in the form of a DIN SPEC. The developed in this way results are publicly available and can be tested in times of ever shorter innovation cycles and increasing global competition in the market in a timely manner.
