A focus of the workshop was on trends like digitization and its impact on the service business. In particular, so-called smart services – i.e. configurable, data-based product-related services using mobile devices and platforms – were identified as a highly relevant business area for manufacturing companies.
The workshop participants discussed what are the right strategies and how to realize them in manufacturing companies. The T-REX model for Service Engineering was valued as an important cornerstone on the way towards smart services.
